Enhance Library Storage with Smarter Thinking
The National Library of Australia’s focus was to optimise backend storage space for a diverse range of materials while adhering to strict safety standards. Dexion’s solution was to innovate custom-designed high-rise shelving that spanned remarkable distances between uprights, accommodating various materials efficiently. Their flexible shelf depths and earthquake-compliant Ultima High-Rise Shelving System addressed the varying nature of stored items while ensuring stability, surpassing seismic demands.
At the University of Queensland’s Gatton Campus, the main goal was to create a high-density archive storage solution. Dexion’s Eclipse Powered Compactus® system fulfilled that need, with a capacity to house over 33 kilometres of books. This system is a high-density mobile shelving solution designed for archive storage. It includes motorised mobile carriages that can be moved to create access aisles, maximising storage space and providing efficient retrieval of stored items.
The State Library of New South Wales had an issue of limited storage space and inadequate static shelving due to its continuously growing collection of materials. Dexion addressed these issues by delivering the Eclipse Powered Compactus®, operated via a simple touchpad. The height opportunity provided by adjusting the sprinkler system allowed an additional level of shelving, offering a 1.2km storage gain.
